Our goal is to complete most stabilization orders within approximately 7 days whenever possible.

Because professional wood stabilization is a process that must be based on the condition and behavior of the individual material, however, turnaround times cannot be guaranteed.

 

Typical Turnaround

For wood that arrives properly prepared and does not require extensive drying, we typically strive for a turnaround time of approximately:

Each order must move through the necessary stages of inspection, moisture preparation, vacuum impregnation, atmospheric soak, heat curing, cooling, and final inspection before it can be returned.

 

Factors That Can Affect Turnaround Time

The amount of time required to complete an order can vary based on several factors, including:

• Quantity of wood being submitted

• Size and thickness of the material

• Wood species

• Density and porosity

• Starting moisture content

• Amount of drying required

• Length of time required under vacuum

• Resin absorption characteristics

• Required soak time

• Curing requirements

• Current stabilization workload

• Condition of the material when received

 

Wood That Requires Additional Drying

Proper moisture preparation is essential to successful resin stabilization.

If your wood arrives with more moisture than is acceptable for stabilization, it must first be properly dried before it can enter the resin impregnation process.

Depending on the dimensions, species, and starting moisture content, this drying stage can add additional time to the order.

We will not shorten or eliminate necessary drying time simply to meet a turnaround estimate.

Our priority is to prepare the material correctly before stabilization begins.

 

Larger Orders

Larger quantities of wood may require additional processing time.

The amount of material that can be dried, vacuum processed, soaked, and cured at one time is limited by the capacity of the equipment being used.

Large orders may therefore need to be divided into multiple processing batches.

When this is necessary, turnaround time may extend beyond our typical 7-day target.

 

Vacuum Time Is Determined by the Wood

Not every species releases trapped air at the same rate.

Some highly porous woods may process relatively quickly, while denser materials or larger blanks may require considerably more time under vacuum.

We do not remove wood from vacuum simply because a predetermined number of hours has passed.

The stabilization process is allowed to progress according to the way the material actually responds.

 

Quality Comes Before the Clock

Our 7-day turnaround is a goal, not a shortcut.

If additional drying, vacuum time, soaking, curing, or evaluation is necessary to properly process your material, we will allow the additional time required.

We would rather return your wood properly processed than rush a valuable piece of material simply to meet an arbitrary completion date.
